After receiving many emails asking why can’t I install your themes on my WordPress blog? I have decided to write a quick explanation on WordPress.com vs WordPress.org and how they are different.
1. WordPress.com – Free platform where you can only install the themes that WordPress.com provides
“Due to the way the WordPress.com technical infrastructure is designed, we are unable to support uploading custom WordPress themes to our service.”
2. WordPress.org – It’s free, but you have to pay for the domain name and self-hosting, and you can install whatever WordPress themes you want.
Which one is better for you? It depends, if you want to start blogging quickly and for free then go with WordPress.com, if you are serious about your website and want the freedom to install any WordPress theme you like then go with WordPress.org
